Firstly, a massive thank you for volunteering with us at 1st Seaton Scout Group.
As a Young Leader (or 'YL'), you're an inspirational role-model for the younger members of our Scout Group. Just like a big sister or a big brother.
You're cool. You're relevant. You're awesome!
Being closer in age to our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, they find it easier to relate to you. And you will directly help bring their Scouting experience to life!
We also want to make sure that it's rewarding and fun for you too! So why not do it with a friend? It can count towards your DofE Award as well.
You don't need to be a super hero on day one... But you will be by the end!
Developing at your own pace, we'll provide a safe place to help you get the most out of your volunteering. As a valued member of our Section Teams, you will: build your confidence; learn how to plan and reflect; and improve your leadership skills.
Getting stuck in, you might like to:
Provide 1:1 support for younger members.
Help a small group of Beavers to achieve a task.
Run some new and fun games for Cubs.
Organise an exciting activity for Scouts.
You'll never be left on your own, and there will always be adult leaders to support you.
Finally, as a youth-shaped organisation, we're genuinely keen to hear your ideas on how to improve our activity programme or how we do things.
So get involved!
Yes! As long as you've got the spark to try something new!

In Scouts, the safety and welfare of children and young people is our priority. Everyone has a duty to report safeguarding concerns. Young Leaders must follow this safeguarding code of conduct to help keep children and young people safe from harm.
Find out more about Explorers and the Young Leaders' Scheme on the UK Scouts website.
Note: This mentions Explorer Scout Young Leaders (ESYLs), who are completing the optional YL Scheme as part of being an Explorer Scout. If you are just completing your 'volunteering activity' for DofE, you only have to do the Module A learning.
